Hearing Conservation & Safe Listening Strategies

  • Campaign Focus Occupational Hearing Protection, Safe Listening (60-60 Rule)
  • Role Focus Video Producer, Data Analyst, Project Manager
Executive Summary (TL;DR)
  • The Objective: To proactively curb the rise of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) through targeted advocacy—covering both occupational noise environments and recreational listening habits.
  • Occupational Protection: Independently spearheaded the production of an educational animation to demonstrate proper foam earplug usage for high-noise work settings.
  • Recreational Safety: Partnered with Yamaha Music & Electronics to survey 800 individuals. This comprehensive behavioral data revealed a compounding risk funnel where 72% of volume-adjusting commuters exceed safe limits, scientifically driving our "60-60 Rule" advocacy.

Initiative 1: Educational Animation on Occupational Noise

Recognizing that proper hearing protection is often overlooked in high-noise environments, I initiated this video project to move beyond theoretical warnings and provide practical clinical solutions.

In occupational environments, merely providing foam earplugs is not enough. The actual protection workers receive relies almost entirely on correct insertion depth and wearing technique—a vital safety skill that is rarely taught effectively on the front lines.

  • Production: Executed end-to-end production including Video Content Design and Video Editing.
  • Animation & Voiceover: Designed the narrative script, produced animations, and provided professional voiceover.
The Hidden Risk

Improper insertion depth causes the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) to drop drastically, leaving workers unknowingly exposed to auditory damage.

Clinical Solution

The animation provides a real-life clinical demonstration of the "Roll, Pull, and Hold" method to guarantee a maximum acoustic seal.

Initiative 2: Survey on Listening Habits & The 60-60 Rule

Expanding our focus to address the growing threat of recreational hearing loss from earphones, I successfully bridged clinical audiology with consumer technology through a strategic B2B partnership.

This behavioral evidence scientifically drove our advocacy for the "60-60 Rule" and validated the overwhelming consumer demand for built-in safe listening mechanisms in audio devices.

  • Strategic Partnership: Initiated and managed the collaboration with Yamaha Music & Electronics.
  • Research Design: Developed the assessment to track real-world volume habits and knowledge gaps.
  • Content Creation: Authored an educational webpage translating WHO guidelines to address knowledge gaps.

Closing the Knowledge Gap

I didn't just collect data—I closed the loop. To immediately address the knowledge gap, the survey and educational intervention were seamlessly integrated into a single user journey. Upon hitting "submit," all 800+ respondents were automatically redirected to a curated educational webpage I authored, instantly translating complex WHO/ITU noise exposure limits into actionable daily guidelines.

Prevention Over Rehabilitation

"Hearing conservation is not about silencing the world; it is about empowering individuals to enjoy sound safely for a lifetime. Whether it's training workers on proper earplug usage or utilizing behavioral data to advocate the 60-60 rule for recreational listening, my goal is to intercept auditory damage long before a clinical intervention is required."
