The Hearing Aid Bank: A Pressure-Free Care Ecosystem

  • DURATION 2020-2024
  • Role Focus Clinical Project Manager & Audiologist
  • Validation Framework Social Return on Investment (SROI)
Executive Summary
  • The Core Mission: The public frequently hesitates to seek hearing intervention due to high commercial sales pressure and a lack of unbiased information. We established the "Hearing Aid Bank" to dismantle these barriers.
  • The Service Model: Serving as an independent platform, we provide comprehensive hearing tests, unbiased government subsidy counseling, and 14-day free trials of multi-brand assistive devices.
  • The Impact Validation: To scientifically prove the efficacy of this model, I collaborated with a top-tier accounting firm to conduct a rigorous SROI Analysis. The results confirmed that every NT$1 invested generates NT$7.52 in immense social and economic value.
The Platform

Redefining the Patient Journey

Before measuring social impact, we had to fix the user experience. The Hearing Aid Bank is designed as a completely pressure-free environment. By stripping away retail sales pressure, we focus purely on clinical well-being, empowering patients to make informed decisions through real-world testing.

1

Diagnosis

Professional pure-tone and speech audiometry to assess actual needs without immediate sales intent.

2

Unbiased Counseling

Brand-neutral education and active guidance through complex government subsidy applications.

3

14-Day Free Trial

Taking multi-brand devices home for a risk-free trial to test efficacy in their daily acoustic environments.

4

Informed Decision

Patients return to discuss trial results, proceeding to purchase or returning the device with zero pressure.

Validating Impact

Measuring Success: The SROI Analysis

To objectively evaluate whether our pressure-free model successfully generated measurable societal value, I partnered with a top-tier accounting firm to conduct a formal Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

While the accounting firm constructed the financial proxy modeling and discount rate calculations, I served as the Clinical Domain Expert and Project Manager. I provided the large-scale operational data (N=1,099), defined the precise "Stakeholder Personas," and ensured the financial models accurately reflected the real-world audiological behaviors of the public.

The SROI Dashboard

1,099
Citizens Consulted
Robust data foundation built on extensive frontline clinical execution and structured surveying.
7.52x
Social Return Multiplier
For every NT$1 invested into the Hearing Aid Bank, NT$7.52 of tangible social and economic value is generated.
6
B2B Partners
Successfully engaged major hearing aid manufacturers, demonstrating the platform's strong commercial viability.
Impact Breakdown

B2B2C Value Creation Engine

The SROI framework allowed us to scientifically quantify the outcomes. The data shattered the misconception that a hearing aid program is only about "buying a device." The true value generated spans deeply into public health education and emotional well-being, while still driving commercial success.

Social Value Distribution (C-Side)
Elevated Auditory Health Awareness 31%
The 14-day free trial successfully acted as a powerful public health educational tool, shifting mindsets.
Enhanced Family Relationships 18%
Mitigating the severe communication friction and emotional isolation often caused by untreated hearing loss at home.
Improved Interpersonal Quality of Life 15%
Restoring the confidence to engage in social settings and reducing the cognitive load of daily interactions.
Economic Outcome (B-Side)

Generation of Additional Revenue

By lowering the psychological barrier to entry via a risk-free, third-party platform, the Hearing Aid Bank served as a high-conversion funnel. The analysis proved that participating manufacturers gained substantial, quantifiable additional revenue streams as citizens successfully transitioned from "trials" to "purchases" with proper subsidy guidance.
